We offer a beautiful, fully-equipped, self-catering Tuscan vacation apartment for five persons accommodated in two double rooms and a single room. The apartment occupies the ground, first and second floors of an ancient tower keep (cassero) guarding an entry portal to the inner area of Volpaia.
The ground floor is the entry, and the upper two floors are accessed via a pietra forte staircase.
On the first floor, there is the kitchen equipped with a gas stove top, electric oven, microwave and utensils plus plates and cutlery. The traditional table and chairs, and the cupboards are chestnut and there is a huge traditional Tuscan fireplace.
The large living room is also on the first floor. Here you will find a rustic dining table, couches and a fireplace, plus television. As in the other rooms, the floor is made of antique terracotta tiles and the ceiling is beamed with oak.
The bedrooms and bathroom are on the second floor. The spacious double and single rooms are furnished in traditional Tuscan style.

Volpaia is an ideal base for your holiday in Chianti. It has been restored in a very restrained manner and retains its original and beautiful architectural style. Volpaia is centrally located between Florence and Sienna, with the Chianti castles route beginning nearby. The village is very tranquil, with almost no cars in the inner area (or anywhere else), and is high up so that it is cool in mid-summer. Volpaia nevertheless offers a choice of three restaurants all within two minutes walk of Il Cassero, and there is a small grocery shop. There is good and inexpensive eating at Il Ristoro di Lucarelli a short drive away. The nearest big supermarket is in Greve in Chianti, and there are numerous restaurants in Greve and Panzano and the surrounding countryside. Very good wine is readily available from Il Castello di Volpaia winery which is the main commercial activity here.

How to get to VolpaiaFrom Florence, the easiest route, although not the shortest, is to take the SS 222 Chiantigiana through Greve and Panzano, and a few km after Panzano, turn off to the left to Lucarelli in the direction of Radda in Chianti. Just before reaching Radda, turn left again where the signpost indicates Volpaia. The shorter route is a dirt road accessed from Panzano. Once you are settled in at Volpaia, this is the road to use when you go shopping in Panzano or Greve.
From Rome, you can exit the autostrada A1 at Incisa (Montevarchi) and drive towards Radda and Castellina in Chianti. Just after Villa and before Radda, you turn right at the signpost for Volpaia.
